First trip to Zihuatanejo, or lovingly known as Zihua, and we were without any expectations.  But from the moment we landed, we felt like the experience was going to be calming and peaceful, with a focus on low-key, which is exactly what we needed.  Rolling into the town underscored those thoughts, but as we ascended the drive up to Villa Escala, we felt an uptick in our hearts as we arrived on the driveway landing and gazed across the inviting swing bridge onto the property of Villa Escala.  It looked like a private paradise where we could let our hair down and relax luxuriously.

The living, dining, and pool areas on the ground level were such a surprise, encouraging outdoor fun with a promise of sensual evenings overlooking the lights of the town.  We climbed the stairs to our room, opened the gorgeous door and peered into a perfectly appointed suite with artisan-crafted furniture, local fabrications, and a view/balcony enviable of any coastal destination.  We didn't want to leave the room and decided to take a nap after pulling the shutters open to gaze outside at the horizon.

Reading, napping, sketching, playing games in the pool, drinking creative juices, local wines and tequilas - all the makings for a perfect respite from the rush of everyday life.

We experienced local cuisine that was delicious through recommendations of the Villa, and even walked 100 yards to a Michelin-worthy restaurant with the same magical views.  Walks into town and along the beaches were adventurous and relaxing.  Local crafts and clothing were endless.   Whether walking or hailing a taxi back up to the Villa Escala in the sky was a fun experience each time.

Visit Villa Escala and leave all your worries behind.

P.S.  Our flight home was cancelled...darn, we had to stay another day in paradise.

Villa Escala in beautiful Zihuatanejo is a stunning getaway with forever 360 views of the harbor and beaches. It’s really a retreat center with multiple private bedrooms and huge kitchen where you can host a family reunion or meeting with your most valued clients and team. Steps away from the oceanfront walkways and quaint town where dozens of restaurants and cafes welcome you into the real heart of Mexico and its warm, family atmosphere and culture. We fell in love with this place and can’t wait to return.
